If you are concerned about your point standing, and need to know which trials are going to be higher point qualifiers due to entries, please call Molly 7 days prior to the trial to confirm entry numbers to date for each trial.

Present:  Andrew Amsden, Lorna & Pete Wall, Campbell, Molly, & Kaelene Forsyth, Breanna Blue, Rick Willetts, Chris Wimmer

Rick opened meeting,

Secretary report:  Chris read minutes from Nov 15, 2009 meeting.  Lorna/Kaelene  Carried.

Treasurers report:  Molly read financial statement, Bank balance December 31, 2009 $4468.91 Lorna/Kaelene  Carried.

2009 Annual Mtg secretary report:  Kaelene read minutes from last annual meeting Jan 31, 2009

Lorna gave report of website.

Old Business: 

Jackets - are in, pick up when bill comes in.  Rick will contact members.

Swan River - Rick will contact them about demonstration

Buckles - Buckles are ordered for Year end Awards

New Business:

Fun days- discussed how to get more participation.

Motion:  Two junior classes will be added, 14-18 intermediate class, and under 14 Jr class.  Entry fee-stock fee only.  Lorna/ Andrew - Carried.

Lundar Fair- Pete offered sheep for the Lundar Fair.  Chris and Campbell also have sheep.

Dufferin Ag Society/Carman - Cheryl McPherson sent a letter asking about us putting on a trial Saturday, July 10, 2010.  Discussed cost, $500.00, they supply sheep.  We bring alley and pen gates, and tarps.  Judge?

Spring Clinic - April?  Campbell will contact Peter Gonnet.

                Location:  Eriksdale Sports grounds / Indoor arena if poor weather

Entry Fee Deadlines - to be in one week prior to event or 25% penalty.  Contact:  Molly Forsyth by phone or email

Local Fees- Sheep:  $25 + $5.00

                      Cattle: $25 + $10.00

 

Public Relation Spokesperson - discussed & was decided to contact Lara Forchuk.

Field Trials - try to organize more trials

Correspondence:  Letter sent from Kara Hewitt regarding stock dog guidelines.  Rules 6 & 12-discussed

Stock Dog Guidelines -Rule # 6- Judge raises flag to indicate handler may start.  When handler sends dog, judge drops flag and time starts. 

Rule 12: Discussed/ Stays as worded

Microphone - look into buying a portable headset

Clinic - Kaelene will look into putting on a clinic in the South Sundown/Steinbach area to promote stock dogs in this area.

November 15, 2009

Meeting held at Wall 2 Wall Sheep Ranch, Poplarfield after Fun Day Clinic.

Present were:
Glenna, Kelly Gale, Lorna, Pete, Campbell, Kaelene, Chris, Deb, Carolyn, Brenna & Rick.

Thank you to Pete & Lorna for hosting the Fun Day Clinic, today.  We had great attendance and participation as well as beautiful weather for November.

Discussed: 
Trial rules for our club, to also be available on our website.  To be continued at AGM.

Jackets: size, color and patterns.  Motion: To have: Canadian flag on one arm, name on other arm, MB Stock Dog on front, emblem on back.    Moved by Campbell, 2nd by Carolyn, Carried.

Stop Watches:  Motion: To have club purchase 2 stop watches.   Moved by Campbell, 2nd by Carolyn, Carried.

Junior members: course easier, further discussion at AGM.  Lower entry fee and prizes.

Kelly Gale is to send us info on Buckles (Maynards).
Motion: No buckles for year end & field trial as there was only _____. Moved by Carolyn, 2nd by Kaelene, Carried.
Motion: No buckles for winter series as only three events. Moved by Glenna, 2nd by Deb, Carried.

Discussion about having prizes at all events, sponsorship for stock fees, arena, etc.

Swan River Rodeo:  4 hours. want us to come the end of July.  Thursday, Friday, Saturday, evening and morning demo.  4 shows.  Rick willing to go.  Rooms plus milage.  Minimum cost $600.oo

Suggestion on confirmation of entries to be 1 week prior to trial date. Suggested 25% extra for late fee.  More Discussion on Open rules.

Rick called meeting to order Jan. 12, 2009 @ 5:30 pm

Review of financial report . Kaelene recognizes donations made to the WCF and gives thanks.
Kaelene will be in charge of getting thank you notes and pictures for the WCF. Faye has a group photo she can get.

Campbell motions the meeting begins. Faye seconds ...carried

Nominations made and voted on. Choices are as follows.

Trial Co-coordinator: Kaelene Forysth & Faye Unrau (north)

Awards for the year end will be Over all winner, 3 field, 2 arena (open/novice), and 1 cattle. Over all winner will have a cow dog of the year and an open arena dog of the year. There will be a traveling plaque purchased for the overall winners as well as a MSDA embroidered coat. (Everyone in favor)

There is three categories in arena and field trials this year. They are as follows:   
-Novice :         Handler places in the top 3rd, three times will move up to pro-novice.                                                  
-Pro-Novice :  Dog places in the top 3rd, three times will move up to open
-Open :            Everyone else.
There will be some exemptions to the rules, but please check with field advisor prior to entry of trial. (Everyone in favor)

Swan River has asked Rick if there would be anyone interested in going there to do a intermission for July 23-26. Discussed a price for one person to attend. Figure it to be around $2000.00/ person. No interest from anyone attending meeting. Rick will tell them no but to keep us in mind for the future.

Minimum price to be entertainment at fairs and such will be $500.00. This includes our entry to the fair grounds, but we will supply everything else that is needed. (ex...sheep, pens, throwers..)(Everyone in favor)

Campbell motions the MSDA donates $200.00 to Dale and Dawn Montgomery. (everyone in favor)

Faye Unrau has asked Roy Sage to hold a clinition on April 4-6, 2009. She has 3 spots left. Price is $200.00/day + flight.

Ed Hunter would like to see MSDA ask Glen Scott to hold a clinic for it's members. Check for dates available.

Next Ranch dog series will be at Eriksdale on Feb.27th.            

Campbelle motions that the 25% pay out be down sized to 10% (everyone in favor)

Kaelene motions that you will be allowed one hometown trial,but must buy a membership if you participate in more then one.(everyone in favor)
