President's Message |
Hi, I am the president of the Manitoba Stock Dog Association. I am writing a short letter with your membership application to give you some insight into why we (association) feel we may be of benefit to you and your dog.
First off the Interlake Association has dissolved and joined the Manitoba Stock Dog Association. Now there is one Association for the province and making it more recognizable like the other provinces.
With this in mind one of our objectives is to have fun days in different areas of the province. At these fun days we as an association are hoping to have two or more experienced handlers to answer any questions and help with training problems if need be. (a relaxed mini clinic).
The association is in the process of establishing a website. With the website members will have access to free ads, links to other WebPages, and information on other activities within the association. We will be hosting clinics and members will have first choice at participating in these clinics. Please don't feel that you have to participate in trials to be a member of the association.
The association is working to promote and assist others with dog handling and stockmanship with the use of dogs.
This is a quick overview of what we are about and if you have any questions about the above or any related stockdog questions, please feel free to give me a call.
Thank-you Rick Willetts 1-204-739-2642

2011 National Sheepdog Finals Blog This link is to a blog profiling the handlers going to the US Border Collie Handler's Association National Finals in September. There are some Canadians being profiled in the most recent posts. The last post was about Amanda Milliken of Kingston, ON. I just read the most recent one about Scott and Jenny Glen (Alberta, woot woot!) There is some pretty sage advice in there for anyone in this hobby. Plus it's just more enjoyable reading about herding, for the obsessed. Nice write-up Jenny!
